Ross Fraser Funeral Directors are family owned and fully independent, serving the Bo’ness community for over 16 years.

About Us

Ross Fraser Funeral Directors is an independent family-owned funeral service, based in my home town of Bo’ness. Owned and personally managed by myself, Ross Fraser, we have been proudly serving families in Bo’ness and the surrounding areas for more than 16 years.

Established in 2009, following over a decade of my own experience in funeral care, our business has always been built on professionalism, respect and dignity at every step. From the very first contact, through to the day of your loved one’s service – and beyond – we are here to provide care and support 24 hours a day.

In 2016, we expanded into larger premises in the heart of the community, right in the town centre of Bo’ness, ensuring we could continue to serve families in a welcoming and accessible space.

At Ross Fraser Funeral Directors, we are not governed by time. We are guided only by the values of support, compassion, love and care for every family who places their trust in us.

Ross Fraser

The Scots Pine

The Scots pine is the national tree of Scotland. Each tree is highly individual in shape and character as they age. As an evergreen they commonly represent endurance and strength; their longevity and size are seen as embodying wisdom and continuity of nature. In Celtic folklore they represent the interconnectedness of life. Historically their size and age led to their use as landmarks and as markers for crossroads and ancient cairns. Druids would light bonfires of Scots pine at the winter solstice to celebrate the passing of the seasons and draw back the sun.

Kasia Nisbet

“At the worst time of our lives; the loss of our mother, granny and mother-in-law, Ross Fraser treated us with so much care and thoughtfulness. Ross helped us follow through the hurdles and procedures of a death with nothing but kindness, empathy and support. We, our entire family, are so grateful to Ross and the team for the peaceful dignified way they treated our mother and our family. Thank you.”

Anne Sneddon

“I’d like to take a moment to publicly thank a few local businesses who supported our family through my mum’s funeral, Ross Fraser Funeral Directors Bo`ness. Ross and his team were simply incredible. From our very first phone call, it was clear that this wasn’t “just a job” to him. The care, compassion and attention he showed us as a family went far beyond what we ever expected. I know that my mum, and we as a family, genuinely meant a lot to him, and that came through in everything he did. Even taking the time to phone me on the evening of the funeral, while he was on holiday, just to check that everything had gone as it should, says everything about the kind of person he is.”

Andy Goodwin

I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to Ross & all the team at Ross Fraser Funeral Directors. At the toughest time of our life we are deeply indebted to Ross & the extended team for their kind, dignified & respectful attention & service for my lovely wife- the late Helen Graham Goodwin. I could not have entrusted this most special duty to a more thoughtful, kind & considerate Funeral Director. From the admin to the funeral service- nothing was too much trouble-in fact quite the opposite. Ross truly went the extra mile and leaves my family & I with the most treasured Memories. Helen’s final journey was one of dignity, love & respect. We as a family offer our grateful thanks to all at Ross Fraser Funeral Directors.

Common Questions

What should I do when my loved one passes away?

When a loved one passes away, it can be difficult to know what to do next. If the death occurs at home, a medical professional will need to confirm the death. Once this has been done, you can contact us at any time, day or night. We will take the time to listen, explain the next steps clearly, and support you in whatever way you need. There is no pressure to make immediate decisions — our priority is your family’s wellbeing.

How do I register a death?

A death must be registered within the required legal timeframe. We will explain how and where to register the death, and provide any documentation or guidance you may need to make the process as straightforward as possible.

Who needs to be informed when someone passes away?

Several organisations may need to be notified, including government departments, financial institutions and service providers. We can advise you on who to contact and in what order, helping to ease the administrative burden during a difficult time.

Religious or non-religious service?

We arrange both religious and non-religious services, as well as services that reflect personal beliefs or cultural traditions. Our role is to ensure the ceremony feels appropriate, respectful and meaningful to you and your family.

Burial or cremation?

Both burial and cremation are available options. We will talk through the practical considerations, costs and personal preferences involved, helping you decide what feels right for your loved one.
